As Cantella’s Operations Manager, Tom has been a driving force behind the expansion and development of our Operations team. He ensures that his group fulfills the timely and accurate processing of all customer and firm-level financial transactions, remains current on clearing firm policies and procedures, supports Cantella's financial advisors and their clients and, most importantly, provides superior customer service at all times.

Since becoming Operations Manager in 2009, Tom has tripled his department’s size while improving efficiency and productivity. By streamlining workloads and developing new procedures, our response time to advisors has dramatically improved. He serves as a mentor and counselor to his staff by fully supporting and encouraging their professional development. Under his leadership, Operations is a model of efficiency, collaboration and procedural integration, known for its consistent and accurate service and support.

Beyond managing the day-to-day operations functions, Tom works closely with Compliance, staying abreast of changes in the regulatory environment and industry trends.

He is a graduate of Western New England University, where he was awarded the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree. He was instrumental in helping Augsburg College win the 1995 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championship by becoming the 150-pound National Champion. That year he was also selected as the NCAA Division III Outstanding Wrestler and is an inductee in the New England Wrestling Association Hall of Fame and the Maine Amateur Wrestling Alliance Hall of Fame. Since 1999, he has been the Head Wrestling Coach at MIT, where he was honored as the 2013 NCWA Men's Coach of the Year. He is a board member of the Boston Chapter of Wrestlers in Business Network (WIBN) and the current chairman of the NCWA Northeast Conference.

Tom holds FINRA Series 7, 24 and 63 licenses. He lives in Northshore with his wife Sheelagh Howett, Cantella’s Chief Risk Officer/Chief Compliance Officer, their son and daughter. In addition to coaching and wrestling, Tom is an avid world traveler.
